Notable Observations:
(1) The effects of slavery are still clearly evident, with African Americans dominating the South. Interestingly, Whites outnumber them on the Gulf coastline. African American Map
(2) While they make up less than 1% of the population, Native American presence is certainly visible in Arizona, New Mexico, Montana and the Dakotas. Native American Map
(3) Oklahoma is home to a peculiarly high ratio of individuals identifying as "mixed race." I wonder if this is the result of different data collection methods since this pattern doesn't spill over into neighboring states, which would be expected if regional factors were at play. Mixed Race Map
(4) Despite comprising over 5% of the U.S. population, Asian Americans are hardly noticeable on the map. In fact, they only represent a majority in 0.16% of all U.S. zip codes. Their presence is concentrated around a few major metropolises, including: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago and New York. Asian Map
(5) Unsurprisingly, Latino presence is heavy in states sharing a border with Mexico. Latino Map
